The Big Picture

I'm a dynamic and innovative problem solver with 10 years of experience designing and developing learning solutions for a variety of learners. I love figuring out how people think and learn best. My passion is creating engaging and creative learner-centered experiences that provide measurable results and behavior changes.

I have held positions of leadership that have given me the skills needed to delegate tasks, manage project deliverables, and support and provide strategic planning while coaching and mentoring others.

I have cultivated an expanding knowledge of instructional design processes like adult learning theory, ADDIE, SAM, and backward design, and am experienced in eLearning development.

My Path to Instructional Design

How it Started

I have always been interested in how people think and behave. This curiosity led me to pursue a bachelor's degree in psychology.

My love of psychology and understanding the human mind bloomed into a desire to understand how people learn. As a result, I decided to go back to school and get my master's degree in education. I spent the next decade as an educator.

My love of pedagogy and psychology blended together seamlessly and ignited my passion for creating learner-centered experiences that produce measurable results through behavior changes.

Leading the Way

I have taken on positions of leadership where I have been able to train and mentor others, design and develop engaging learning experiences, manage a team, collect and analyze data, and manage a timeline with deliverables.

Pivoting into Action

In the spring of 2020, I spearheaded converting my instructor-led trainings, tasks, and resources into virtual instructor-led trainings, tasks, and resources. I exhibited the ability to pivot seamlessly and developed a greater love for instructional design.

During this time, I created self-paced eLearning and microlearning, provided individualized feedback, and tracked data to determine how learning objectives were being met.

I also found my passion for using creative visual design to increase learner engagement through an online platform.

New Horizons

I continued to develop my skills by joining Applied Instructional Design Academy (AIDA) in 2023. AIDA is an intensive 9-month program led by a mentor who has been in the field of instructional design for 20 years.

During my time in AIDA, I learned real-life application skills in instructional design. I have been able to create eLearning courses, design documents, and storyboards that have gone through multiple rounds of revisions. Mentors who have an extensive background in instructional design led me through alpha, beta, and gold versions of my Storyline sample and provided invaluable insight into the world of instructional design.

I emerged from AIDA as a confident, highly prepared instructional designer with a portfolio that showcases my skills and talents. Although my road to instructional design has not been a straight path, I believe that the scenic route has made me a more well-rounded person with valuable experiences that contribute to my view of instructional design. I am exactly where I am meant to be and am excited to begin a new career where I can continue to develop and grow.

New Adventures Ahead

I am looking forward to joining a company that values developing high-quality learning experiences that target behavior changes and measurable results.

My keen eye for problem-solving, my love of learning and design, and my desire to always produce my best work will launch me into success in my future career in instructional design.

Thank you for viewing my portfolio.
